Home Removals – How To Get A Low Quote
Organizing your house for a full furniture removal is a big challenge that requires a considerable budget. Nowadays, there are plenty of moving companies on the market who would literally fight to win you as their client because the competition is severe. Some of the companies offer additional service at a minimum price, others offer free storage in their warehouse, but overall if you want a good service you need to do a thorough research and be prepared to bump into some obstacles. If you want a smooth and easy transition to your new place, the choice of the mover will play a big role in the whole process. On the other hand, if you are only doing a local move and you decide to pack and load the truck yourself, you may find it unreasonable to pay a huge amount of money just for a few hours rent for the moving truck and the driver. You will probably need professional help with the major appliances (washing-machine, fridge, stove, dishwasher) as they are heavy and need special packing and handling, as well as with the large furniture pieces. However, there is still no reason to pay for every service that the company offers, plus the extra fees they will charge you on the moving day anyway. If you want to get a low quote and save some money for your future home, here is what you can do.
Reduce Your Removal Costs
- Pack on your own. This is nobody’s favourite task as it can take up to weeks to get everything sorted out, gather the packing materials, tools and supplies and pack it all, but it will save you lots of money. Consider buying a ready-made packing kit from a hardware store or on the Internet. This way you don’t have to worry that you are forgetting something, as the basic materials will be included: cardboard moving boxes of small, medium, large and extra-large size, rolls of bubble wrap, stretch paper, plain paper, packing tape, black marker, straps, dolly, scissors, etc. Don’t look at this task from a negative point of view – you’ll get the chance to go through everything your family owns and get rid of old and unwanted items.
- One of the ways to reduce the cost of your removal is by reducing the time for it. On the moving day there are many things which can slow down the process and which will cost you an extra fee. If you want to avoid paying additional charges, be ready for when the movers arrive. This includes: making sure there is enough space on the parking lot for the moving truck, the distance between the truck and the boxes is as short as possible, all your boxes are properly labeled and the inventory list is ready, you and your family are ready and everything is packed, you don’t add any items in the last minute that you haven’t included in the details of the shipment. Take care of these tasks and the move will go smoothly and quickly.
- One of the ways to ensure that you will not get ripped off with the quote is to have options – after you browse the good companies in your area, contact at least four of them and ask for quotes. This way you have the chance to pick and choose. If you believe a quote is unreasonably high, try to discuss it with the agent. After all, you have nothing to lose, but they can lose a potential client.
